Adult Volunteers – we need you!

Who are they? Our sections could not run without adult volunteers. Volunteers are a group of individuals who plan and run weekly meetings, weekend adventures and camps. We also have a trustees committee who help oversee the running of the group.

What do you mean you don’t know how to tie an Alpine butterfly? Don’t worry about not knowing everything there is to know about Scouting, all that we ask from our volunteers is the same thing we ask from our younger members: that you are willing to give it a go. (If you want to know how to tie an Alpine butterfly and show off your knowledge, then take a look: Alpine butterfly)

Do I have to do lots of training? Only if you want to. We would only ask you to complete some of the training modules if you are a regular helper and even then, the minimum we ask you to do is a first aid certificate (unless you already have one) and a safeguarding module. All adults need to be DBS cleared (which we organise).

Can I still be involved if I don’t want to run meetings? Yes of course, our board of trustees comprises of our group secretary, chair-person, treasurer and parent representatives. Also, when we run weekend adventures and camps, there are always jobs to do, we don’t turn those away who are willing to lend a hand.

We are also setting up a fundraising group, click for more information: Fundraising Committee

Do I need to wear a uniform? Only on special occasions and only for certain roles, most of us wear group polo shirts and hoodies. Like most groups, we tend to leave the full uniform for parades, district meetings and investitures, otherwise we wear appropriate clothing for the activity we are running.
